For our new year's convo with Nottingham's most opinionated grocers, we talked about wellness tips, new Sherwood parking restrictions, and their hopes for 2026...
Proposed new parking restrictions in Sherwood
It’s a terrible thing for independent businesses on Sherwood high street. The council have clearly not thought it through properly. You can understand why residents want to be able to park outside of their houses, but there must be a better solution. Sherwood has already had a lot of public parking taken away with the library development. All we got out of that so far was a Sainsbury’s! Where are the books?
Wellness Tips
Every night when we get home, we meditate for half an hour before we go to bed. It helps us get a marvellous night’s sleep. We’ve been doing it for about five years after we went to a yoga class. We didn’t stay in the class very long, but we took that bit home with us. Also, our job is quite physical and we’re always on our feet, so that helps to keep us trim and healthy too.
Hopes for 2026
We hope Alice Cooper and Def Leppard will both tour again. We last saw Alice Cooper in Birmingham and he was marvellous. Aside from that we might decorate our house a bit. We’ve been talking about redoing the kitchen for a number of years now and this year is probably the right time for it.
We have a favour to ask
LeftLion is Nottingham’s meeting point for information about what’s going on in our city, from the established organisations to the grassroots. We want to keep what we do free to all to access, but increasingly we are relying on revenue from our readers to continue. Can you spare a few quid each month to support us?
