There's plenty happening in Nottingham this weekend to celebrate International Women's Day - check out workshops, performances, and exhibitions and support our city's wonderful women.

Nottingham’s Women’s Centre will be a buzzing hive of activity this Saturday with zine-making, poetry, performance, relaxation sessions, quilt-designing, tote-bag decorating, talks, workshops and more. Find out how to start your own business with SCLA, take part in chair yoga and somatic dancing, explore various stalls, or enjoy the sounds of United Voices Choir. This is a great chance to support the work on NWC, find out more about their services, or simply spend time in a supportive community of women.

How much: Free
Nottingham's Women in Red addresses the gender bias in Wikipedia content, and encourages women to contribute to and edit pages surrounding iconic women, and their connections to the city and county. On International Women's Day, the organisation will celebrate the progress they've made, as well as all women everywhere with a small exhibition in Nottingham Central Library.

Where: Movers X Swing Dash

Want to carry on the festivities after visiting Nottingham Women's Centre? Over at Movers you can enjoy an evening spotlighting female and non-binary musicians, radio hosts, and creatives. With live DJ sets jamming house and bass music, Swing Dash presents an evening packed with back-to-back sets from Nottingham's best women and non-binary artists (full line-up TBA)! Blending daytime broadcasts, talks and community activities, expect an inclusive evening full of conversation, connection, and sound.

If you’re interested in beer but have found the industry to be a bit male-dominated, get down to meet all-women’s brewing collective No Half Measures who are throwing a party this International Women’s Day at Sneinton brewery Liquid Light. They’ll be celebrating their new brew ‘Zing Boom’, which was made in collaboration with beer brewer, campaigner, broadcaster and author Jaega Wise, with pizza, a range of ales to try, and music from artists

A night of sideshow, burlesque and bands comes to Billy Bootleggers this weekend as Widow’s Rock n’ Rollium takes over the Lace Market’s premier dive bar and music joint Billy Bootleggers. Catch a fierce femme rock show with the return of grungy garage duo You Want Fox (who happen to feature in this month’s mag) and alt-metal band Hystamine, along with cabaret performances from Widow’s Rock n Rollium.

How much: Free
Nottingham’s haven for independents and creatives, Sneinton Market Avenues, is marking International Women’s Day with a particularly special day of arts and culture. There’ll be lots happening – co-working space Minor Oak will host stalls from several local charities and organisations like Juno Women’s Aid and Topaz Centre, while The Grove and By Our Hands Make Our Way will host talks and presentations, with lots of other businesses contributing to the day’s events in their own way.
