Nottingham RockCorps rocked Rock City on Wednesday night, with unforgettable performances from local stars JayaHadADream and LYVIA. The main headliner was the one and only Tinie Tempah...

This Rock City show was a free event. To get tickets to the show, people simply had to volunteer four hours at one of these community locations: Forever Stars Serenity Garden, The Ridge Adventure Playground, Cotgrave Community Garden, Pulp Friction, Oliver Hind Youth Club, Community Recording Studios and Stonebridge City Farm.

The crowd was first entertained by DJ Heff who mixed songs perfectly together, getting the crowd hyped up ready for the acts.

JayaHadADream was the first act out on stage. Her storytelling through her raps captivated the crowd, she has a hard hitting style which has hints of grime and hip hop. She owned the stage and made sure that everyone felt the message through the words she rapped. The perfect way to open the show. After her electric performance, she stayed on stage for an interview with the show’s host Kaylee Golding. She spoke about how she had helped out during the volunteering events and how hard all the young people worked.

After another set from DJ Heff, the next performance was from LYVIA. She has such a unique voice which captivated the audience from the start. Her style is a mixture of soulful pop and spoken word raps. After singing a few of her well known songs she asked the audience who is their favourite singer. Ed Sheeran was the name that was picked and then she began to sing of his songs as well as Drake’s One Dance and No Games by Serani. Hearing those songs in her style was so beautiful to listen to. After her performance she also had a interview with the show’s host Kaylee. LYVIA spoke about how her volunteering went and what she had to do in one of the gardens.

After a short break listening to a mix by DJ Heff it was time for the main act, Tinie Tempah. You could feel the crowd getting excited as they watched the stage get set up ready for his performance. The crowd began to chant "TINIE, TINIE, TINIE"... When the on-screen count down reached zero, Tinie Tempah came running on stage performing his well known song Frisky. Screams could be heard coming from the crowd as Tinie paced up and down the stage rapping his heart out. The energy from him and the crowd was incredible; he was rocking black shades, a white vest top and joggers.

The next song was my personal favourite Earthquake, which is a song by Labrinth but on which Tinie features. The crowd was singing along with him during the song which made it sound even better. Afterwards he performed songs like Pass Out and Girls Like. He then went on to sing some of his newer songs which have more of a dance/club vibe to them, which did get the crowd going even more!

The whole show was great from start to finish, and it was a perfect night for all the people who took time out of their day to volunteer for some amazing places.
