Lakeside Arts offers a retelling of a fairy tale classic with a blend of storytelling, live music, and theatrical magic. Cinderella's is now an ice cream factory, and therein lies the tale...

A celebration of all things sweet, Cinderella Ice Cream Seller is a new musical designed for the whole family. A full audience at Lakeside Arts enjoyed an hour-long performance featuring just two actors, both delivering seamless performances.

The colourful set and captivating songs provoked shrieks of delight from the youngest members of the crowd from the offset, with equally enthusiastic participation from the more reserved guests (including my seven-year-old).

The story takes place in a magical kingdom, where Cinderella’s has become the residents’ most loved ice cream company. Its owner has become a multimillionaire with her own successful business – but how?

this short but sweet production is a perfect introduction to musicals

This charming tale tells the classic rags-to-riches story in a creative song-based way through the loveable characters Tavi and Cauldwell, played by Lauren Harthorpe and David Gibb – who is also the musical’s writer and composer. Menu-themed programmes, given out free of charge, include a recipe for Easy Peasy Ice Cream and add to the magic of the occasion.

Overall, this short but sweet production is a perfect introduction to musicals for mini theatregoers, as well as being engaging enough for older children and adults with more refined palates.

Cinderella Ice Cream Seller is highly recommended.
