One of the most enduring images from any musical, Liza Minnelli stars as Sally Bowles in Bob Fosse’s barnstorming film adaptation of the 1966 stage musical, in turn based on Christopher Isherwood’s novel Goodbye to Berlin, set during the waning days of the Weimar Republic.

Please note, the 35mm print we will be screening from, on loan from the BFI archive, has some visible wear and tear – with scratches appearing intermittently throughout the first five reels (just under half of the film). The BFI’s technicians tell us that the print is over 20 years old, produced to celebrate the film’s 30th anniversary in 2002, and is now showing its age. We hope that while it’s not in pristine condition, this won’t impact your enjoyment of the screening.
