Mozart String Quartet No.21 in D major, K.575
Korngold String Quartet No.1 in A major Op.16
Beethoven String Quartet in C major, Op.59 No.3
The French quartet Quatuor Agate are current Young Concert Artists Trust artists and European Concert Hall Organisation Rising Stars recognising their exceptional talents as emerging performers. For their Lakeside debut they perform Korngold’s first string quartet, a harmonically innovative and technically challenging work composed in his early 20s.
The genial, elegant music of Mozart’s first ‘Prussian’ quartet opens the concert. The third of Beethoven’s quartets commissioned by Count Razumovsky completes the programme with energetic virtuosity.
